How to Make Chilli Chicken Recipe: Step by Step Process

Chilli chicken is a most popular Indo-Chinese dish, actually it also popular in other countries. In India, there are much variety of dry chicken preparations. Basically, boneless chicken is used in this dish, some people are love to test gravy chilli chicken. Indian chilli chicken has a south-east Asian twist as batter fried chicken with a lot of garlic, soya sauce, and chili paste. This dish served as a starter course in the Chinese restaurants. Vegetarians can alternates chicken with paneer (tofu), mushroom and potato.

Ingredients for marination

  1. 250-300 g boneless chicken
  2. 1 egg
  3. 1 and a half tsp. soya sauce
  4. One-fourth tsp. pepper powder
  5. 2-3 tbsps. Corn flour
  6. 2 to 3 tbsps. Plain flour (Maida) (optional)
  7. One-fourth tsp. red chili powder
  8. Salt test wise
  9. Oil for deep fry (as much required)
  10. 10-15 g Chopped Ginger

Seasoning

  1. 1 and a half tsp. soya sauce
  2. 1 tsp. chili sauce or tomato sauce or ketchup
  3. Half tsp. red chili powder
  4. One-fourth tsp. pepper powder (optional)
  5. 1 tsp. vinegar
  6. Half tsp. sugar

Veggies

  1. 1 onion thinly sliced or cubed
  2. 2 tsp garlic chopped
  3. Half cup cubed bell pepper/ capsicum
  4. 1-2 green chilies
  5. 1 chopped onion (optional)
  6. 4 to 5 leaves of celery chopped finely (optional)
  7. Spring onions for garnish

Preparation of chilli chicken

Step 1.  Marinate chicken with egg, soya sauce, salt & pepper powder. Bring it aside while you prepare the rest for 1 hour.

Step 2.  You could chop the onions, bell pepper.

Step 3.  Sprinkle corn flour, plain flour on the meat and mix well. If u want to have your chicken crunchy then add 1 more tbsp. corn flour and 2 tbsp. plain flour. Add chili powder or chopped chili with it. Mix well.

Step 4.  Prepare the sauce in a bowl with adding soya sauce, chili sauce, red chili powder, vinegar and ½ tsp. sugar and mix well.

Step 5.  Pour oil in the pan and heat it well. Then put the chili and deep fry it. Keep stirring to fry event. Do not over fry, it tends to turn hard.

Step 6.  When it is cooked drain on a tissue for above the oil.

Step7.  Remove off excess oil and keep just 2 spoons oil in the pan. Add garlic fey for 1 min. then add spring onions, capsicum, onions, celery and green chili. Fry it till it turns to soft for about 2 min.

Step 8.  When the fried ingredients made soft then pour the sauce and let the sauces bubble up well to make chili chicken gravy.

Step 9.  Add the fried chicken and mix well. If you want this dry then stirred it and served dry chili chicken or sprinkle little water and saute on high flame for 2 to 3 min.

Step 10.  Serve chilli chicken garnished with spring onion and appetizer with fried rice or noodles. This spicy food makes your moo.

We can serve this with fried rice, jeera rice or plain rice. But we Bengalis love to have this with bread (roti) at home. In the restaurant, we normally order this spicy dish with noodles and some gravy also. Make this at home and have with your family and friends. I’m sure you love this.
